    • ( ii) the brakes and steering of the towed vehicle remain in working order and a person who is licensed to drive the towed vehicle is being in the chauffeur’s seat of the towed car, and is in control of its brakes and steering; and.
  • ( b) it is safe to tow the automobile.

The motorist of a motor vehicle towing another car using a chain, rope, wire, fabric or strap (the towline) must;.

Keep a range of not over 4m in between the lorries if neither of the cars is a motorcycle.

If at least 1 of the vehicles is a motorbike, keep a range of not over 2.5 m in between the cars.

If the towline is longer than 2m, attach a white or brightly coloured flag, piece of fabric or other comparable material (the warning product) to the towline.

The warning material should–.

  • ( a) be rectangle-shaped or significantly square with 2 nearby sides a minimum of 300mm long; and.
  • ( b) be connected midway along the towline; and.
  • ( c) show up for a minimum of 100m from either side of the caution material.

If the driver is towing in the evening, the motorist needs to ensure the warning product is lit by a light attached to 1 of the automobiles.
